Development Builds

Development Builds
First and foremost these are development builds they may be and most likely are unstable. I currently have Gimp 2.7.1, Inkscape 0.48 pre 1, & Blender 2.53 beta installed in both Windows and Linux Mint. They all work well.

Gimp 2.7.1 - is a bit more unstable so if you use it save often. It crashes more often in Windows than Linux Mint IMO.
Inkscape 0.48pre1 - is more stable as it is closer to release. I have only had 1 crash since installing it, but i still save often.
Blender 2.53 beta - Don't know yet. I am still learning blender. I do know it installs and runs in both.

I am no expert so there may be better or different ways of installing these programs. If you know of a better way don't feel bashful post away.

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

let me see.....
Not seeing it!

Single windows mode is very nice, but you can't save it in single-window mode in your profile yet. So every time you open gimp you have to click Windows>Single-Window Mode. Nothing earth shattering but would be a nice feature to be able to save it in a single window state.

One annoyance (Quickly over come) is you can not save as .png, .jpg, .gif by default File>Save, Save as, or Save Copyall go to .xcf format. In order to get a png/ jpg/ gif you have to goto File>Export Shift+Crtl+E..

I have to say Inkscapes new interface had me kinda not liking this build, but after using it now for a day or two i have to say i like the change. Once you are used to it it seems to work faster. The Air Brush tool is a very neat addition.

So i figure why not show off some scree shots. As always click the image to see a larger view.
These are screen shot of the guis.

Gimp 2.7.1 (Single-Window Mode) - Running in Linux Mint

Inkscape 0.48 pre 1 - Running in Linux Mint
