GIMP 2.6.11 is a bug-fix release in the stable GIMP 2.6 series. Among
other bug-fixes, it restores printing functionality with version 1.10 of
the cairo library.

Head on over to Gimp.org to update your gimp!!

Well the last ver of the 2.7 branch was 2.7.1 and i believe they have a windows binary for it. I haven't read anything in the mailing list about them updating the 2.7 branch, but it is a development ver after all so one may never know. I know from reading the mailing list that there are some really nice things coming for 2.8. I hope they can get them all in and working.

will gimp ever be able to be updated right from the program instead of downloading the whole package with every new version

That's part of the joy of Linux. Does the downloading and installation of the update automatically.  When I updated to the 2.6.11 all I had to do was click OK in my update manager and it was done.

nice..i have used ubuntu..dual booted (wubi) with xp, but didn't put it back on yet after reinstall of xp
mostly use my laptop with win7

nix9 - All i had to do was boot up into mint and it told me to update it. It is an awesome feature of Linux.
