Erm what exactly is a double post...
« on: July 01, 2009, 09:45:14 PM »
As the title says, ive been on many forums.... and ive heard "double post" this "double post" that. Youve been banned for double posting (not really) but i google searched it and i got a definition of

"One common faux pas on Internet forums is to post the same message twice" -wiki (i know never use wiki for searching) but tbh im not really in the mood to go on a hunt for the definition, im feeling quite flustered.

Would double posting be something like this scenario?

- I posted not to long ago in 3d showcase, "My first blender creation", now i want to make a post showing some of my more recent 3d works.... i make a new topic saying "my recent 3d works". is this double posting?

We have something on the forum that will merge your posts.

So.. what is a double post. Well a double post can be when you post the same thing twice, either on purpose or if there is a glitch at that moment in the forum. Another definition is closer to what's known as "Bumping"  and this is where you would respond to your own post with something like "anyone gonna respond?"

Now, bumping within say 24 hours.. meh bad.. so if you post something and you are wanting/needing feedback quickly, say so. If there's no posts and its been 24 hours, then go ahead and post a small bump to re-affirm that you need the input. For example if this is something being done as a project for school. Not if you are just impatient and want some info. LOL

Hope this helps.

I'm posting this to show you how our forum handles a "double post".

In this case, using the edit button would be better.
