*Raises hand* "Teacher teacher I have a question!"
« on: July 03, 2009, 11:50:05 AM »
To whom it may concern...

I was on a car forum a lil while ago and I saw this and I thought to myself "WOW That is AMAZING, I want to be able to do that."

I later (today at about 5 am) found out that this type of art is called pixel or "manga" car art.

I was wondering if anyone here on the dome knew or had some sort of reference link that gives me a tutorial on how to create these.

And google is not my friend today, ive been searching on and off for about an hour for a tut, youtube, yahoo, google, you name it... not much =[

Please note: I am not asking how to "Modify" the car that is already made, im asking how to MAKE the actual car.

If anyone has anything that would be great =]

Images are found on http://www.pixelcarart.com and belong to the creators

Thank you all for your help. I found out what the users did to create the cars.

They got the blue prints of the car (much like what you do in blender)

then they shrinked the photos down verrryyy small, opened paint (in my case gimps going up)

and took an online photo of the car and started shading in (this is what makes the car and will take lots of practice.)

Let's see... I just went to google and typed "manga car tut" and found the following:

and sadly yes i found this one too, but this will only help when the car is completed

Quote
"Step 1

all right well i think we should start with a simple car like this rx7
other bases like this can be found at mangacars.com
just go look in the stock manga cars section"

What i wanted to do was make the "bases" of a car like the one they pulled off of mangacars.com

the pixel tuts above look pretty cool i got to try those

that's pretty much what i assumed they did, sorry i didn't get a post in before.  i'm actually trying that out as we speak, except i made my own blueprint from the photo itself, mostly because i couldn't find a blueprint of a pagani zonda r xD

ok, here's what i got:

traced outlines, and laid down base colors:

i was too lazy to shade all of it myself at this moment in time, so i shaded a bit of it and then overlaid the original image and erased bits, and it actually shaded it quite nicely:

i intend to actually shade it myself later on, but for now it's not bad
