Hidden Object Stereogram - All GIMP
« on: April 26, 2010, 07:10:50 PM »
Figured out how to create stereograms "manually" in GIMP. No plugins, special filters, anything....It's a fairly simple process, although a bit repetitive. It's not perfect as stereogram programs have algorithms to minimize "ghosting" (aka "sliver" effects), which can be unsightly, but it's really cool to do it manually. Once I get the technique refined, I'll prepare a tutorial.

So, what do you see hidden in the texture? Click on the thumbnail to see a fullsize image.

I'd rate you as an upper-middle-lower-mod with pro-novice-inter tendencies.....and a twist of lime!  Of course, my rating scale is completely objectively subjective, but ALWAYS consistently inconsistent.

I'm really glad you guys have been able to see it without much difficulty.  Especially since it was done manually, gives me a good feeling that the technique will be a worthwhile one.

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

Weird, what's with me? I can't see a butterfly at all.

there's nothing wrong with you.  look at the image and slowly start to cross your eyes.  you will see the butterfly pop out.  you can also try to look past the image.
