Inspired by dartin's post....
« on: August 13, 2009, 03:11:40 PM »
Although this wasn't dartin's graphic, I was inspired by his post (http://www.gimpdome.com/index.php?topic=7472) to see if I could create something similar in a relatively quick fashion and without GAP.

GAP is perfect for this type of animation, but I know the learning curve is steep (plus it can be kinda scary) and there's no version for MAC....so, somebody's gonna get left out.  I figured if I could do it without GAP and do it in a way everyone could participate, that would be the best way to go.  Well, here's my quick attempt:

Notice how one layer moves at a different speed that the other.  It's not a beautiful masterpiece....never was intended to be.  The goal was to see if I could do it.  I know I said several months ago I was done with tutorials, but I've been away from GIMP for so long, I figured I might as well contribute something to the community.  I'll be putting the tutorial together soon and you'll be amazed at how easy it is!  I've even got a "special tool" to help facilitate the process!  ;)  For you animation lovers out there, I think you'll enjoy it.
I'd rate you as an upper-middle-lower-mod with pro-novice-inter tendencies.....and a twist of lime!  Of course, my rating scale is completely objectively subjective, but ALWAYS consistently inconsistent.

See! When Fence does Tuts.. Magic happens. Ista is not one for animations.. even held back a vote on one of mine in the heat of battle because it was animated... and yet here he is proclaiming to the world that he too may try some animation with the tutorial.

Magic I tell ya *wipes a tear* its magic.
