So, you're actually saying, "you broke wind..."  :D ::) :P

Is it giving any errors prior to dying or just crashing?  Which version of GIMP are you running?  The newest version is 2.4.2, which fixed a bunch of issues.

As a side note:  I'm working on the AoI eyeball tutorial for you.

Art

I'd rate you as an upper-middle-lower-mod with pro-novice-inter tendencies.....and a twist of lime!  Of course, my rating scale is completely objectively subjective, but ALWAYS consistently inconsistent.

2.4rc3 apparently thats the latest in Ubuntu's repositories. I'll have to see about updating it myself. All it says is that it crashed and that it could cause the gimp problems..so I saved as xcf to continue. I closed it, reopened and tried again and it still crashed. So yes, I s'pose I broke wind :p and I can't wait for the AOI tutorial as well :)

Edit: Okay updated to 2.4.2 and it still happens. Last time I had this problem, restaring fixed it but I don't want to have to do that every time. Ugh. I ran it in the terminal and it said

Quote
kreuger@kreuger-desktop:~$ /usr/bin/gimp
GLib-ERROR **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.14.1/glib/gmem.c:135: failed to allocate 4294967140 bytes
aborting...
So it looks like it's a memory issue. As if 2gb isn't enough. I made sure not a lot is being used and it still does it. So unless restarting fixes it, I'm stumped.
Looks like I'm stuck. Rebooting didn't fix anything. From googleing the problem, it always says that it's a problem relating to running of out swap memory (virtual). But I have 5gb free on my hard drive it can use so I don't understand it. A lot of the time it can pertain to having a lot of brushes, patterns, etc at startup but for one I have completely vanilla (nothing changed) and for two it's not at start up only using the damn plugin.

Hmm i googled it like you and you are right it seems to be a memory thing....

Wish i could help but my knowledge in those areas is pretty limited. Might want to post in the help section maybe one of other more knowledgeable members might be able to help you.

The only thing i can eve come to close to thinking of is checking your preffrences in Gimp and make sure they are all set correctly.

Well everything is default. I haven't changed a thing so I don't know what the problem is.

I suggest       apt-get remove gimp then reinstall fresh.  If you installed over the other one, it won't work right even after the 2.4 install over the rc3.
